NAFE regularly organizes events where women can come together and learn from each other about various aspects of career growth and professional life. One of these events is the NAFE Twin Cities Women’s Leadership Summit. This conference, last held on July 31, 2019, at the Ameriprise Financial in Minneapolis, Minnesota, brought together women leaders from academia and the private and public sectors to engage in practical sessions that would help them strengthen their leadership skills. The 2019 summit started with a keynote address by Kristen Brown, an author and business leader futurist, who laid out for the audience strategies for working, living, and thriving amid challenges. Afterward, there were two sets of concurrent sessions complemented with personalized career coaching. In the first round, Mercedes Martin, CEO of Mercedes Martin & Company encouraged attendees to leverage their voices to become confident and resilient leaders while Jeannine Brown, Head of Inclusion at Talking Talent, led discussions on the challenges women face at work and the things they can do to advance equity. In the second round of concurrent sessions, Claire Tse, founder of Tse Solutions LLC, gave a talk on the importance of strategically chasing goals, and later Janel Anderson, President of Working Conversations, hosted a workshop on tackling difficult conversations and addressing conflicts at work to build relationships. The conference concluded with interactive executive panel discussions.
